Canine Semen Collection, Assessment, Freezing & Storage
Whether you’re preserving valuable genetics, assessing fertility or planning future breeding opportunities, Veterinary Reproduction Consultancy provides canine semen collection, assessment, freezing and storage services.
Led by Dr Jasmin Hyatt, our specialist team combines advanced reproductive knowledge with purpose-built laboratory facilities to deliver accurate assessments and long-term preservation of valuable bloodlines.
Our specialist services include:
Semen Collection and Assessment
Breeding Soundness Examination (BSE)
Veterinary Reproduction Consultancy Breeding Soundness Examination offers a thorough assessment of a stud dog’s reproductive health and breeding capability. The aim is to confirm the stud is physically and genetically fit for breeding, safeguarding the health and quality of future litters.
A BSE is commonly recommended:
Semen Freezing and Storage
Freezing your stud dog’s semen gives breeders the opportunity to preserve valuable genetics for future use. Each sample is carefully assessed and processed by Dr Jasmin using specialised laboratory techniques, then stored in liquid nitrogen for long-term, on-site preservation without compromising quality.
Frozen semen offers peace of mind — safeguarding important bloodlines, supporting future breeding programs, and enabling transport throughout Australia and internationally where appropriate.
Once your stud’s semen has been frozen and assessed, Dr Jasmin will provide a detailed report outlining how the sample performed and her recommendations for future use.
Chilled Semen Shipment
Collecting and chilling semen at 4°C is an excellent way to ship whole ejaculates nationally, preserving quality without the freeze-thaw processing required for frozen semen. At Veterinary Reproduction Consultancy, we ship ejaculates in specially designed containers to maximise longevity and survivability until the sample reaches its destination.
Shipped semen requires advance planning to ensure it arrives with the bitch at the optimal time, as determined by the veterinarian managing her breeding.
